From the land of the rising sun, the Yubi garment is tailored using premium silks, where each is crafted into a one-of-a-kind piece that is never repeated.

meet the founders

Ayah Sibai and Yayoi Kobayashi are the founding force and visionaries behind Yubi Atelier.

Guided by their passion for global art and expression, and empowered by their background in design, they came up with a cultural-collaboration that offers beauty and empowerment to modest and stylish women around the world.

  • Ayah is a Syrian-American architect, designer, and entrepreneur born in the United States and raised in America and the UAE.

She pursued her graduate studies in Japan, where she was exposed to the beauty, elegance, and uniqueness of Japanese art and design. Ayah noticed numerous parallels between Japanese & Islamic art, such as calligraphy, nature-inspired concepts and artistic elements, and modest attire.

By founding Yubi, she seeks to share her passion for design and express the beauty of both Japanese and Arab cultures, as well as inspire her communities through a unique and versatile piece of clothing that communicates the values of modesty and sustainability.

  • Yayoi is a Japanese architect, consultant, and entrepreneur born and raised in Japan’s historical capital Kyoto.

She formed an interest in Arab and Islamic culture whilst traveling abroad and studying Arabic in college, which led her to learning more about Islam and eventually embracing the faith. During a visit to the GCC, she was impressed by the beauty and style of Muslim women, and came up with an idea to transform silk Japanese kimonos into Arabian-style abayas.

Through Yubi, Yayoi aspires to represent Japanese culture and support her local communities by promoting Kyoto’s artisan work on a global scale, as well as create a fusion of tradition that promotes tolerance and cultural collaboration.
